

CAROL JOY ERICKSON BEGLAU, 82, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully on Friday, July 7, 2006 at her home after a courageous battle with leukemia. Carol was born in Watertown, South Dakota on December 7, 1923 to Katherine Henriksen Erickson and Lewis Erickson. Carol was baptized December 23, 1923, confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on April 10, 1938 and graduated form Watertown High School. She married Walter Clarence Beglau on November 1, 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church, Watertown, South Dakota. They spent 48 happy and fulfilling years together until Walters death on Epiphany Sunday, January 1991. Carols Christianity and faith was beautiful and she lived to serve God. She was a member of St. Martins Lutheran Church ELCA since 1967. She formerly served on the church council, was past president of the congregation, Leader of the Stephen Ministries, member of the Women of the ELCA, Mutual Ministry Board, Church Choir, Elizabeth Circle, Bereavement Committee, Care and Share Group, and Sip and Sew. She also worked with her husband (Lutheran Brotherhood Life & Health Insurance) for over 30 years and was a member of the General Agents and Managers Auxiliary. Carol loved her family deeply and was a fabulous homemaker and cook. In the 70s she co-authored a cookbook. Her world revolved around God and her family. She was the kindest and most unselfish woman in the world. Her family adored her. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter C. Beglau, her parents Lewis and Katherine Erickson and brother Lewis Don Erickson. She is survived by sister June Gornitzka, her brother Bob Erickson, her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Tom Wykes, daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Kevin Trainor, son and daughter-in-law Paul Walter and Kay Beglau, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Bill Black, son and daughter-in-law Robert and Judy Beglau, grand children Walter, Jennifer and Eric Wykes, Lisa, Linda and Lee Williams, Walter Ian and McKenzie Beglau, Joshua, Sally and Katie Beglau, great grand children Jacob and Kyra Wykes, Alyssa and Jeffrey Alena, Jayden Williams-Poni, Devon Ledbetter, Haley Williams, and grand dogs Hannah and Beau Black. A private burial service is being held for the family. Due to numerous relatives and friends traveling to Texas from several states Memorial Services will be July 25, 2006, 7:00 p.m. at St. Martins Lutheran Church, 606 West 15th St., Austin, TX, 78701. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Leukemia Society, Austin Hospice, St. Martins Lutheran Church Building Fund, or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Dr. Balijepalli Netajii for his constant and loving care of our mother, since 1991 and also to Care Givers Leslie Thompson, Rose Wamae, and Jennifer from Austin Hospice in her final days on earth.
