

Carol Ann Springs Blaschke, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 27, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 82. Born on May 19, 1942, in Seguin, Texas, Carol's life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to serving others.
Carol graduated from Seguin High School in 1960 and worked for the Texas Highway Department, where she met the love of her life, Byron Blaschke. Their journey together took them from Seguin to San Antonio, Pearsall, Austin, and College Station, creating countless cherished memories and friends along the way. Carol's love for her family was evident in everything she did, from spending time with her grandchildren and shopping to enjoying Mexican food and George Strait music. She and Byron spent the last seven years in Austin near their daughters and their families.
Her life reflected service to others as shown by her volunteerism. Carol was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was president of her Seguin chapter and founder and president of her chapter in Pearsall. She was named Girl of the Year for both chapters and was named Outstanding Young Woman of America. She was active in her daughters’ schools, serving as president and various other leadership positions in the PTAs at Oak Hill Elementary, Patton Elementary, Porter Junior High, O. Henry Junior High, Johnston High, and Bowie High. She also served on the Austin Council of PTAs, was a life member of the Texas PTA, and was president of the Bowie Silver Star Dance Team Booster Club. As her daughters attended Texas A&M, she served as president of the Austin Texas A&M Mothers’ Club and on the board of the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Clubs, along with chairing Aggie Mom Fish Camp. After moving to College Station, she was president of the Bryan-College Station Newcomers Club, Texas A&M Newcomers Club, and PEO Chapter EQ. She served on the boards of the Friends of the Texas A&M University Libraries, College Station Parks and Recreation Committee, and the College Station Senior Citizen Committee and was a member of the Christian Women’s Club. In her final years at Brookdale Westlake Hills, she served as library chair for the resident council.
Carol's legacy lives on through her beloved family: Her dearly loved husband of 56 years, Byron; daughters and their husbands Tiffiny and Chris Britton and Tammy and Chris Cochran; grandchildren Coleman Cochran, Shelby Britton, and Carter Cochran; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Paul Soechting of El Campo; sister-in-law Mary Brock of Laconia, New Hampshire; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joe and Dawn Blaschke of Bryan; nephews Gary Brock, Byron Blaschke, and David Blaschke; and niece Donna Brock; and niece and goddaughter Erika Buchanan.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on December 17th at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin. The Rosary will be at 10:00 am and a reception at the church will immediately follow the mass. Carol will be laid to rest at the Aggie Field of Honor in College Station.
