Carolyn Rene Marshall, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love. Born on July 15, 1962, in Canyon, Texas, to Carl and Lorena Miller, Carolyn grew into a woman of grace, generosity, and remarkable strength.
Those who knew Carolyn will remember her for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and endless willingness to help others. Whether offering sage advice, preparing thoughtful gifts, or simply lending a listening ear, she approached life with deep compassion and a servant’s heart. Her home was always a haven, especially during the holidays, when her baking and abundant generosity brought joy to all who gathered.
Carolyn had many passions, including gardening, travel, quilting, and spending time with family and friends. She was a woman of strong faith, and her greatest joy came from nurturing her children, loving her husband, and embracing her role as a loyal friend and confidant.
Professionally, Carolyn was a trusted and accomplished leader in the healthcare field. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1984 from West Texas State University, where she was a proud member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, she went on to obtain a Master of Science in Project Management from Walden University in 2013. Her career was distinguished by excellence, integrity, and a commitment to patient care and clinical quality. Her positions included Director of Surgical Services at the Children’s Hospital of Austin, Clinical Surgery RN CNOR at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, Network Accreditation Project Coordinator, and most recently, Manager of Clinical Quality Data at Seton Family of Hospitals.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband, Joe; her cherished children, Griffin (wife Courtney and their eagerly awaited son, Holt) and Delaney (fiancé Dylan); as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Carl and Lorena Miller, and her niece, Catie Sebastian.
Carolyn’s presence was a light in many lives, a light that will continue to shine through the love she shared and the legacy she leaves behind.
