Carrie professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Pleasant Bethany Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas. She later joined David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Austin, Texas under the leadership of Pastor James. E. Obie Sr.
Carrie was married to Wilbert Monroe. To this union, 5 children were born.
Carrie was preceded in death by her mother, Maud Jerrell; father, Eddie Jerrell; son, Jerry Monroe; daughter, Loretta Monroe; sister, Eddie Mae Sterling; brothers, JB Jerrell and John Jerrell; and her husband of 54 years, Wilbert Monroe.
Carrie loved spending time with her family and friends. Memories of Carrie will be cherished by her sons, Steve Monroe (Gwen), Morgan Monroe and Anthony Monroe (Cynthia); sister, Martha Lewis; brother, Ricky Tomlin; foster sons, Christopher Keith Carter, John Armstrong and Robert Armstrong; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
