Kay was born in Portland, Arkansas, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Arwood.
She married Wayne Tyler of Comanche, Iowa. After his naval service, they moved to Colorado.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, Wayne, her parents, her brother, John Arwood, and sisters Mary Miller, Jo Jones, Jeanette Kinney, and her oldest daughter, Sharon Tyler Herbst.
Kay loved living in the Denver, CO area and only moved to Galveston, TX to join her daughter, Tia Tyler McCurdy, and husband Jim, after she lost her husband. Kay moved to Austin along with Jim and Tia after Hurricane IKE and landed on her feet at The Conservatory Senior Community in Austin.
The family who will mourn Kay’s passing are Jim & Tia McCurdy, Tyler & Andressa Leslie, Andrew & Jessica Leslie and baby Lena, Ron Herbst, John & Laura McCurdy, Caroline McCurdy, Michael Seikel, Michelle, Darren and Hunter Seglem. Along with her extended family of caregivers. Pretrice Dudley, Fanny Garduno, Anita Martin, Ruth Perez, Ariana Sanchez, and Serina Watkins.
The funeral will be on Saturday, September 30 1:00 pm Cook Walden Chapel - 9700 Anderson Mill Rd. Austin, TX. Afterwards, family and friends will go to Cook Walden Capital Park Cemetery 14501 North IH 35, Plugerville, TX. Following the entombment, friends will gather at Jim & Tia’s home – 1809 Nelson Ranch Loop, Cedar Park TX, for wine and hors d’oeuvres.
As Kay would always say, when making a toast…”May it always be this good!” Now she knows how good it really is, since she’s joined her Father and Creator and those she loves.
