

Celia Aredondo (Moreno) Ortiz was born September 17, 1929 and passed away November 9, 2008. Celia was born and raised in Austin where she lived her entire life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, loyal sister and friend. A dedicated employee of St. Vincent de Paul for 25 plus years, she began as a volunteer, and over the years, she helped and worked with people from all walks of life. Her life was her job and helping those in need was so important to her. She touched many hearts with her caring and zest for life. She was a proud member of The Ladies of Charity and she honored the Lord through their mission. She was a devout Catholic and a devoted member of San Jose Catholic Church. Her goal in life was to pray daily and to serve our Lord Jesus Christ every minute of her life. She loved going on trips to the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle-National Shrine. Her greatest joy was her home. She cherished spending time with her family, her friends, and the Birthday Club. She especially loved collecting frogs. She was known for her beauty inside and out. She offered her untiring love, support and guidance to those around her. Her dedication to her family as well as to others for whom she loved and cared is a lesson for us all. Her kindness and boisterous laugh will be missed by all who knew her. Though Celia will be deeply missed by her family and a world of loving friends, her memory will live with us forever and she will continue to inspire us. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Angel Heart Hospice, West Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Seton Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul, The Ladies of Charity, the Birthday Club, and her numerous friends. Your care, visits, cards, gifts, prayers, kindness, support and understanding will never be forgotten. Celia is preceded in death by her grandmother- Antonia Esquivel, mother- Dolores Cantu, brothers Manuel & Jesse Ramirez, Robert Cantu, sister- Nora Ramirez, daughters-Mary Helen & Gloria Moreno, son-John Robert Moreno. She is survived by her children Rudolph, Paul, Guadalupe, Joseph & Martin Moreno, Cecelia Ann Smith, Dolores Stacey, Juanita Loyd, Marlene Rostami & Virginia Hernandez, their respective spouses, 32 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, her brothers and sisters-Johnny Galvan, Martin, Joe, Janie, Matilda Cantu, & Lupe Ancira. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, and the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16 at Wilke Clay Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Ave, Austin. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 17, at San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Avenue, Austin. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock, Drive, Austin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Shrine, 512 W.
