

Charles Wayne Barton born on August 4, 1948 passed away peacefully on July 28, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife Diane of 41 years, his son Bruce and wife Angelica and the pride and joy of his life granddaughters Kylie Charlese and Saylor Rose.
Also survived by sisters, Maxene (Marvin), Nancy, Carolyn (Andy), and Brenda; brothers, Doug (Joyce), James (Karen); his loving in-laws, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Max and Gertrude Barton.
CPL Charles Barton proudly served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Upon return he attended Durham Business College where he learned his trade as a Master Draftsman. He started work for Harvey Smith Land Surveyors which later became Roy Smith Land Surveyors. After more than 40 years with the company he retired as co-owner of Roy Smith Land Surveyors.
Charles loved hunting and fishing, especially all of the years spent with family and friends at the Barton farm in Red Rock, Texas.
One of his most treasured memories was his trip to New York City in 2006 with Frank to visit Bubba. Charles said, "We all felt like country bumpkins in the Big Apple".
Charles enjoyed all sports but was an avid Texas Longhorn Football fan and was so looking forward to this upcoming season. Hook 'Em Horns!!
Diane and family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Jane Chawla, Dr. J.D. Hinze, Dr. Binh Pham, and Dr. Andrew Gorchs (VA) for their valiant effort in caring for Charles until the end of his 15 month long courageous battle with cancer.
Rosary will be held on Aug. 1st at 7 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish on S. Congress.
Mass will be held on Aug. 2nd at 10 am at St. Peters Catholic Church on Ben White.
