Charles Richard Jones

Charles Richard Jones went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 he was born to Lemuel and Pearl Jones on December 30, 1927. He is survived by wife Patsy, son Grady and wife Rose, daughter Jenise Lively and her husband Bill. He also has two brothers Elton and Buford. He is also survived by grandchildren Lynn Rawls, Alicia Irbeck, Kathryn Shiflett and Charles Lively as well as five great grandchildren.

He was a member of the 8787 VFW in Austin Texas and he served his country in Okinawa in 1945. He was chairman of the building committee of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a longtime deacon. He worked as a union tile setter for 35 years in the Austin area. He was especially proud of his work on the mural at the University of Texas geology building. He will be sorely missed on his front porch by all of his neighbors especially his grand-dog Bella.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening, on Thursday, the 23rd of January 2014, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 24th of January 2014, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 3838 Steck Avenue, Austin, Texas. He will be laid to rest at Adina Christian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christopher House/Hospice Austin or Hillcrest Baptist Church.
