

Bill was born in Dripping Springs on December 27, 1925 to Charles and Mabel Turner Spillar. He graduated from Dripping Springs HS and joined the Navy after the start of WWII. There he entered the Cadet program where he learned to fly. After the war he joined the Texas DPS as a Highway Patrolman. Several years later he became a pilot and engineer for Luke Grace Drilling in Wichita Falls. In the late '60's he joined Boyce Iron Works in Austin as a project manager/VP. Bill married the true love of his life, Vickie, on April 24, 1976. He remained employed with Boyce Industries as an accountant until shortly before his death. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wallace T. Spillar. He leaves behind his wife Vickie of Austin; children, Buster Spillar and wife Annie of Austin; Debbie Smith and fiancé David Roth of Saginaw, Texas; Denise and husband Randall Whitfield of Dripping Springs; JoAnn and husband David Wolf of Holland, Texas; grandchildren, Creed Foster, Melissa Michalek, Austin Spillar, Erin Spillar, William Whitfield, Nicholas Whitfield, Nathan Whitfield; great-grandchildren, Kellan Michalek and Jaden Michalek. He is also survived by his sister, Annie Mae Robinson of Austin and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jim Boyce, Gregg Boyce, Creed Foster, Butch Schutz, Austin Spillar, and Randall Whitfield. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7, at Wilke-Clay-Fish located at 2620 S. Congress. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 8, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel.
