Christopher (Chris) Paul Porter, 33, died Saturday in an accident. Chris was born on July 29th, 1981 to Natalie and Paul in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Center High School, and obtained his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Sam Houston State. He was completing his master's degree in Counseling Psychology at Texas State University. He planned to become a trauma counselor, and was naturally remarkable at helping others through the most difficult of times.
He is survived by his mother, Natalie Medeiros; his father, Kimlyn Paul Porter and wife Arceli; his daughter, Alyssa Porter; his friend and partner, April Jones; his sister and brother in heart, Stevie Puckett and Russel Anderson, John and Tracey Jones, who were as much parents to Chris as any two people can be, an aunt, two uncles, and many cousins, and his many friends whom he called family.
Chris had an uncanny way of pulling people in and turning friends into lifelong family. He was an amazing father to Alyssa, always fostering both creativity and critical thinking. In addition to his daughter and close friends, Chris had many passions. He was a philosopher, scientist, avid reader, hunter, counselor, and all around student of life. He was a loyal, caring, and brilliant person who challenged everyone he knew to grow.
A favored quote was, "The question is not who will let me, but who can stop me." His death is a deep loss.
A memorial service will be held for Chris at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 S. Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704 (512) 442-1446
