

Clara Louise Becker Schmidt, a homemaker and longtime resident of Austin, was called home to be with her Lord on Saturday the fifteenth of October 2011 at the age of 93. Clara was born in Loebau, Texas on the twenty seventh of February 1918. In 1925, her family moved to Stamford, in West Texas, and eventually settled in a town called Old Glory where she met her husband Edgar Schmidt. They were married on the first of August 1943. In 1944, Clara and Edgar moved to Austin.
Clara loved to sew, make quilts, crochet blankets and make noodles from scratch. In her younger years, she also enjoyed attending Longhorn baseball games. She was an active member at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin E. Becker and Selma Beisert Becker; her husband, Edgar Schmidt and her siblings, Harold Becker, Ella Lunsford, Hattie Wells, Edwin G. Becker and Bernice Coplin. She is survived by eight nieces, ten nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Trinity Care Center, of Round Rock, for all the loving care they provided Clara, while she was a resident. The family would also like to thank Lighthouse Hospice for their loving care during Clara’s final weeks.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, the nineteenth of October from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, the twentieth of October at ten o’clock in the morning at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1207 West 45th Street, Austin, TX 78756. An interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks.
