He was born at home in Rogers, Texas on September 27, 1919 to Clarence E. Reid Sr. and Barbara Elizabeth Thomas Reid.
A proud graduate of the University of Texas, Gene was a dedicated educator, coach, and administrator in the Beaumont area. After retirement Gene moved to Austin where he traveled extensively and was an avid supporter of Longhorn sports for many years. Gene was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Austin.
He is survived by one nephew, Pat Reid.
Graveside services will be held in Rogers, Texas, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Rogers Cemetery.
