Cruz Barba Jr.

Cruz Barba Jr. of Austin, passed away on June 17th, 2025 at the age of 88. Cruz was known to family members and friends as “guero”. He was born on May 8th, 1937 to Cruz Sr. And Calletana Barba. He grew up in Austin, Texas with his two sisters Dora and Mary.

Cruz married the love of his life, Bertha Ramos Barba in 1958. With whom he had three children, Roland, Michael, and Liza Barba.

For over 30 years, Cruz worked for Gerald Rubinette at Austin Drug company and later Special Sales. Cruz always had a background in the restaurant industry. For 13 years, He loved spending his lunches, evenings, and weekends at Margaritas Restaurant that opened in the 1990’s by his son, Michael. Cruz was a family man. When Roland was working with the Austin Police Department, Cruz and his wife, Bertha, helped him raise his two daughters, Kendall and Rachel. He made sure to supports his daughter, Liza, in all of her endeavors. Cruz will be remembered for his sense of humor, hard work, and devotion to his family.

Cruz is survived by his children, Roland, Michael and Liza, and his sister Mary Seballes of Austin Tx. He will be greatly missed by his 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Cruz was preceded in death by his parents; Cruz Sr. and Calletana Barba; sister, Dora Pulido; beloved wife, Bertha Barba.
