Calvin [Big Daddy, as many affectionately called him] attended Anderson High School in Austin, Tx. After high school, he briefly joined the army followed by attending Austin Community College. He will always be remembered for his love of fishing, spending hours smoking meat in the backyard, watching National Geographic and playing dominoes; of course, surrounded by family and friends.
Things changed for Calvin on April 13,1973 when he married Barbara Faye Nesby. Together they merged a family of nine children; thereafter, adding another four to the Davis Clan. As this family grew, so did the fun of family fishing outings and BBQ’s. To Calvin, being surrounded by family was what he lived for. Right up to his last few months in the hospital, he was visited and loved on by many family members.
Calvin’s life changed again when He dedicated His life to Jehovah God on November 30, 1975. From that point forward, he became a fisher of men. He enjoyed sharing what he learned of God’s promises for the future with all whom he met, even assisting a couple people to dedicate themselves as well to Jehovah. He immersed Himself in being a loving husband, father, granddaddy, and friend. For over 10 years, He served as an elder in the congregation also spending time shepherding and caring for His spiritual family. He will be missed, but He was confident of being in Jehovah’s memory and the resurrection hope spoken of at John 5:28, 29.
Calvin is preceded in death by his parents Daniel Calvin Davis Sr. and Josephine Lavern Easley-Bedford, his brother James Davis (known as Bubba), his son Michael Davis and 4 deceased grandchildren.
