

Darrell Audwin Davis Sr., age 66, of Austin, Texas formerly of Fayetteville, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Darrell was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on what he like to say, “ what they tell me” on June 8, 1957.
He attended Cumberland County Schools and graduated from EE Smith High School in 1975. He attended Fayetteville State University, his mother’s Alma Mater, where he pledged “the only true fraternity” Kappa Alpha Psi. He graduated with a BS in Business Administration with a minor in accounting.
While at FSU he met and later married the former Anita McAllister and to this union six children were born.
Darrell’s career began with the Department of Navy in Lakehurst, New Jersey from there he worked for the Department of Defense working in Germany, Galveston, Japan, Huntsville, Al and Korea. He retired in 2018 after 40 years of Federal service.
Darrell later met and married the former Sharon Conley of Austin, Texas.
Darrell received a Masters degree in Apologetics from Luther Rice Seminary in 2018 and was currently working on his Doctorate in Ministry until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Stanley and Cerena (Lyde) Davis; brother, Alfred(Goo) Hollingsworth; sister, Jaqueline Davis; three grandsons, Kingston Davis, Blais Davis and Re'Lyn Davis; birth parents Gloria Hollingsworth and Alfred Rush.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Sharon of Austin, Texas; children, Ciavani, William, Alicia and Richard(Sheena) of Raeford, North Carolina, Darrell Jr. of Dickinson, Texas and Sydney Oglesby(Ly Jour) of St. Mary’s, Georgia; brothers, Ronald Davis (Audrey) of Winston of Salem, North Carolina and Stanley (Martina)Davis of Fayetteville, North Carolina; bonus children, Erica(Dan) of Kyle, Texas, Richard (Gwen) of Del Valle, Texas, Lecretia of Austin, Texas, Terrence (Tiffany) of Cameron, North Carolina and Shaquana (Jonathan) of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, Caleb, Taraji, Taliya, London, August, Willow, LJ and Marley; 19 bonus grands and great grands, nieces and nephews and other family members and friends.
Darrell was well loved by many people, including those he met on his job and within his community. He was a witty, laid back and caring person who loved to discuss the bible and its teachings. He loved playing chess, having stimulating conversations and watching sports on TV.
