

David Marshall Gelber, 71, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, June 21, 2014 surrounded by loved ones. Mr. Gelber, who discovered his passion for running at the age of 55, was a proud member of Gilbert's Gazelles Running Club in Austin and a 4-time marathon finisher.
A Chicago native, by way of Philadelphia, Mr. Gelber moved to Austin in 1993 to pursue his interest in being a coffee roaster and small business owner, where he owned and operated Austin City Coffee for eight years. Mr. Gelber retired from the Internal Revenue Service in May 2013.
Born on November 20, 1942, Mr. Gelber was the son of the late Molly and Harold Gelber of Chicago, Illinois and brother of Julius Gelber and the late Jack Gelber, the renowned American playwright.
David is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan K. Gelber, brother-in-law Dr. Michael A. Kolinsky, sister-in-law Barbara V. Kolinsky, and his niece and nephews Nicole, Daniel and Samuel Kolinsky and many wonderful and cherished friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25th in the Temple Beth Shalom section of Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin.
