David Skoglund

David Lee Skoglund, 68, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas May 24, 2023. He was born September 28, 1954 to Elfin and Dorothy Johnson Skoglund, their only child. David Graduated from the University of Texas and was a substitute teacher for the Austin School District for 27 years. Most of those years were spent at Lanier High School/Navarro Early College High school where he was the permanent substitute.

David loved working on genealogy for himself and for others. He made two trips to Sweden to visit relatives on both sides of his family. He regularly sent cards and letters to Sweden and routinely called those relatives where he could converse in Swedish. Last Christmas he received 70 Christmas cards from Sweden.

David was very charitable. He gave thoughtful gifts to lots of people. He was never able to drive, but became proficient in use of the city bus system. His pastor, Karl Gronberg, and special friend, Elizabeth Kihlberg, are to be commended for the love and time spent with David, whether it was taking him places or having a meal with him. Several relatives and friends also ministered to his needs.

David is preceded in death by his parents, all his aunts and uncles, and a number of cousins. He is survived by eighteen first cousins and many friends. David was loved by his extended family and friends.

A graveside service for David will be held on Friday, July 7th at 10:00 AM at Palm Valley Lutheran Cemetery. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 7th at 11:00 AM at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, Texas 78665 (2500 E Palm Valley Blvd.)
