Deana Lee Griffis

Deana Lee Griffis, 57, retired Austin real estate broker and full time mom, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014. She was born in the San Diego Naval Hospital in California on August 13, 1957. She is survived by her husband, James P. Perry, father, Jarret Griffis, and children, Caleb Perry, Sydney Perry, and Jacob Perry. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Janna Griffis. Deana is preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Nell Griffis.

At two weeks old, Deana moved, with her parents from San Diego, California to Austin Texas, where she lived with her mother and grandparents while her father was deployed overseas in Guam. Deana graduated from Crockett High School in 1975 and then attended Southwest Texas State University. During this time, Deana and James met, quickly becoming the love of each other’s life; the two were married on December 16, 1978. Deana went on to be a full time mother, raising three wonderful children with James. She loved to spend time with her loved ones and always enjoyed traveling with her family. Her guidance, wisdom, and love are deeply missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 22, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park with Pastor Ismael Flores officiating.
