

Debbie was born on November 8th, 1958 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and she passed away on May 12th, 2023 at home in Volente, Texas. She was 64 years of age and valiantly fought kidney disease and its associate ailments since 2006. She was a true warrior and always had a positive attitude, even in the worst possible circumstances with abiding faith.
Debbie married DeWayne C. Garner on June 30th, 1984 at Tarrytown Methodist Church in Austin, Texas and they enjoyed nearly 39 years of marriage.
Debbie is the daughter of Donald Brotherton and Doris Haskell Brotherton and was born while her father was attending graduate school at LSU. The family moved to Midland, Texas when she was 2 years old. She was one of six children and the youngest daughter of the family.
Debbie was an exceptional student. She graduated high school in 1977 as the National Merit Scholarship winner from Midland Lee High School. She had an excellent singing voice and was chosen for state choir. She attended Texas Tech studying Voice and Music for 2 years while in the Chi Omega sorority.
In 1980 she moved to Austin in order to attend UT and study Petroleum Land Management. Debbie met her husband, DeWayne Garner, in spring of 1982 and they were engaged in early February 1984 and married in June of 1984. Their entire business careers were in real estate, either development-investment, brokerage or commercial appraisal. Debbie and Dewayne were blessed with three boys.
Debbie was an awesome, amazing person, very positive, always cheerful happy, and smiling. She was extremely smart and intelligent and a good teacher to the children, being well read. She was an avid reader and shared her passion for books. A very loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She was beautiful, friendly, charismatic, thoughtful, kind and vivacious.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and one brother-in-law. She is survived by her husband DeWayne, her eldest son Bradley Garner and wife Monica with two children Grant and Adeline, her middle son David Garner and wife Chelsea, and her youngest son Clay Garner and wife Olivia with two children Caroline and Brooks.
Debbie was raised in the Methodist Church and maintained her Christian faith and belief her entire life. Eternal love and peace to our Deborah, forever and ever. Amen.
