Debra Ann Ratliff

Debra was born June 28, 1953 to Lillie Mae and Walker Ashford Gabitzsch in Eagle Lake, Texas. She married Richard A. Ratliff, on her 23rd birthday, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin, Texas June 28, 1976. Father Bill Brooks married them and was their priest and friend.

Debra received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas with a double major in Microbiology and Russian Literature. Then she worked at the Texas Department of Health laboratory for 25 years. Debra retired in 2002 and enjoyed reading science fiction stories on the internet, and watching many shows on TV.

Debra and Richard lived in Georgetown Texas after being married and moved to Austin in 1983 and became parishioners at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Debra and Richard had 42 wonderful years together before she died on June 9, 2018. Debra is survived by Richard, and sister’s Sharon Miller from Fredericksburg, Virginia; Kathy Mladenka and her husband Patrick of Flatonia, Texas; and Ramona Gabitzsch of Smithville, Texas. Also she is survived by three God children, PJ Mladenka of Columbus, Texas and Julie and Kole Bowermon of San Marcos, Texas. In addition, Debra is survived by niece Kaylee Mladenka and Trenton Glueck of Columbus, Texas. Also children of her sister Sharon; Jeff, Roschel and Tanya; and children of her sister Ramona, Misty Rae, Justin and Kristofer.

Debra will be greatly missed by Richard and her family.
