DeLana Renee Trogdon

DeLana Renee Trogdon, 54, passed away at home December 2nd. She was born in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Jack and Jessie Pearl Hilley. The youngest of 4 children, she spent much of her youth traveling the country. She attended Texas A&M University and Tarleton State University, studying Biology. Much of her life was devoted to being a homemaker, amazing mother, loving wife, caring friend and thoughtful sister. Her true passion seemed to be caring for others. She possessed an innate ability to make others feel comfortable with expressing themselves to her. Her inner light shone with compassion, forgiveness, understanding and love.

DeLana is preceded in death by her mother Jessie Pearl “Peggy” Hilley, father Jack Hilley, Step-father Ramon Decker, nephews Patrick Brown and Kenneth Lane, mother-in-law Flo Trogdon, father-in-law W.O. Trogdon and sister-in-law Patricia Shelton.

DeLana is survived by her husband of 32 years Stephen Trogdon, daughter Stephanie Mancuso (Shay), grandchildren Aubrey and Nathaniel, sisters Darla Lane and Dense Staples (Bill), brother Michael Hilley (Jan), nephews Steven, Scot, Chris and Jason, and nieces Kim and Jennifer.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday December 7, 2013 at the Cook Walden Funeral Home at 6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 1:15pm until 2pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in DeLana’s name to any no-kill animal shelter or the Dr. W.O. and Flo Trogdon Scholarship at Tarleton State University, P.O. Box 0260, Stephenville, TX 76401.
