

Faye was born in Rosenberg, Texas on November 4, 1924 to parents James and Gertrude McGee. She lived in Needville, Austin, and Bertram throughout her life. She graduated from Austin High in 1942. She and her family were members of Congress Avenue Baptist Church.
Faye married Earcle Edward "Red" Chappell Sr. on August 26, 1944 when she was 19 and he was 20. They were married in Perryville, Maryland, where Red was stationed in the Navy.
Earcle and Faye were charter members of Tarrytown Baptist Church. She was church secretary and taught Sunday School to ladies for more than 40 years. She also taught Sunday School to ladies at the First Baptist Church in Bertram for six years.
Faye and Earcle moved to land near Bertram during their retirement years. They loved to have the family out, and Faye loved to drive around the property. They loved Foxie, a lost dog they rescued while living there.
Faye is survived by children Earcle Chappell Jr. and wife Mary, Michael Chappell and wife Julie, and Mitchell Chappell; brother-in-law Ralph Chappell and wife Tracy; seven grandchildren Chris, Kelly, Jennifer, Dori, Rebecca, Micah, and Lewis; as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
Faye is preceded in death by husband Earcle E. Chappell, twin brother Ray McGee, and daughter Ersalene Faye.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will take place immediately afterwards at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park with a reception to follow.
