

Dolores Houger Nelson, born 9-19-1930 in Akron OH, was the wife of John Nelson (deceased). Survived by daughter Sandra Harrigan, son-in-law Mike Harrigan, son David Nelson, daughter in law Kathy. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Lauren Hinson, Haley Harrigan, Page Nelson, Lydia Nelson.
She was married to her husband John for over 50 years. She achieved her masters degree from Arizona State University in Education and taught as an elementary reading specialist for 26 years.
She was a very active member of Hope Presbyterian church in Austin where she was involved in the Women's Circle, Lunch Bunch and Scrabble group. She also taught ESL (English as a Second Language) up to the age of 82.
Also, she was an active member and volunteer of the Treasure of The Hills (TOTH) senior center where she worked as a receptionist.
As a member of the Friendship Force, she not only traveled to many countries, but openly hosted many guests in her home from various other countries.
She was very passionate about singing, playing the piano, gardening, cooking, teaching Sunday School and selflessly serving others.
She was a blessing to all the people that she touched. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
