Baptized Easter Sunday, 1956, Don was a man whose Christian faith marked every aspect of his life. His quick smile, and infectious laugh, and lovely bass voice endeared him to friends and friends-to-be. His willingness to serve kept friendships strong through a lifetime.
In a military career that spanned 24 years of Air Force service, he used the included worldwide adventures to share his faith globally. As a few examples, his heart of service prompted him to serve as a deacon for over 40 years, to help build a church sanctuary in Alaska, to initiate and develop bus and hospital visitation ministries, and to fully invest in churches at each adventure location.
A skilled mechanic, ingenious dental lab technician, talented jewelry maker, jovial postman, enthusiastic outdoorsman, and avid gardener, he pursued his vocations and avocations with a creative enthusiasm. And as a loving father and devoted husband, he brought a twinkle of delight and a touch of mischief to family times together. Underlying it all was the strength of his faith, and the joy of an abundant life in Christ.
Don is survived by his devoted and loving wife of almost 64 years, Patsy Bradley Barrington; sons, Steve Barrington (Elizabeth), Shawn Barrington (Janet); daughters, Suzanne Zucca (Nic), Sara Windsor (Nigel); sister, Jane Krellner (Dan); sister-in-law, Wilma Barrington; grandchildren, David Barrington (Nicki), Jonathan Barrington (Caroline), Caitlyn and Carley Zucca, Dylan and Aiden Windsor; great-grandchildren, Helen and Louise Barrington, Steadman Barrington and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; and infant daughter, Joan; siblings, Catherine Clark (Bill), Maryeve Peek (Gaston), John Barrington (Evelyn), and Jimmy Barrington.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the celebration of life will be family only. The service will be officiated by Rev. Russell Allen, with music by Dr. Randall Bradley and his son Isaac. Don will be interred at Onion Creek Cemetery with military honors. Please join us on the Woodlawn Baptist Church Facebook Page at 10:00 am on Friday, August 21 for live streaming of the service.
