

Donald Donk Reynolds, 76, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2010, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born on March 16, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, and is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Donk Reynolds and his stepfather Benjamin Y. Reynolds.
Don is survived by Judith Dressler Reynolds, his devoted wife of 50 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by their two children, Gregory Reynolds and his wife Kimberly, and Kelly Reynolds and her husband Andrew Barkoff, all of Austin. Don was also blessed with four grandchildren: Peyton, Lindsey and Graham Reynolds, and Rachael Barkoff.
Following graduation from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Don was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Army and served with the "NIKE" surface to air missile battery in Pittsburgh, PA. He served as a captain in the Army Reserves ending his career in 1964.
Don first entered the homebuilding business in St. Louis, where he was instrumental in developing six St. Louis area subdivisions. In 1973, Don and Judy and their two children, moved to Austin and soon after started a custom homebuilding company. The Reynolds were among the pioneers of Austin's "luxury" homebuilding market, and took great pride in their commitment to building high quality custom homes while also building lasting relationships with their clients. Don was involved in the development of the subdivisions of Watersedge at Mt. Bonnell, Green Trails, and Mesa Trails, as well as building several office buildings.
Don was a member of Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church and enjoyed their Alzheimer's program for many years. He always had a unique zest for life. He loved to sing, dance, and travel. Don's extraordinary enthusiasm and sense of humor were contagious, and will long be remembered by his family and many friends.
The Reynolds family wishes to express special appreciation to the Plaza at Querencia, and particularly to their Memory and Skilled Nursing Units, for their loving care and support during his later years. Additional thanks to Lupe Castro for her loving care.
A Memorial Service will be held at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, 7127 Bee Caves Road, Austin, Texas 78735 on Monday, October 4th at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow at the church.
