

Donald A. Forbes, age 76, of Austin passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2011 with his wife by his side. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA to Henry and Julia Forbes. After graduating from Central High School, Don continued his education at Louisiana State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Physics.
For almost thirty years Don worked in the broadcast industry. He was employed by RCA for eleven years before beginning his own broadcast business in Austin. He founded and operated Broadcast Systems Inc, as well as American Broadcast Systems where he designed, developed, manufactured and distributed high tech television automation systems for television stations. After retiring from the broadcast industry Don managed his sister-in-law's automobile dealership in Houston after her husband passed.
One of Don's greatest passions was to travel with his wife in their motor home all across the United States. Don was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years, Sarah Bracewell Forbes; their children, Karen Forbes Brannan and husband Michael, Robert Forbes and wife Kimberly, Dinnis Clements, Kimberly Clements, and Shannon Clements Wiggins and husband William. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and brothers, James R. Forbes and wife Ernestine, and Billy L. Forbes and wife Nell.
Don was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, one sister and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8th in the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association or the Make A Wish Foundation.
