You and I  - and our families -  go all the way back to Bob's Lake, long before 'we were'......
..But many many great 'Toddler' cottage memories, followed by Great Boys Getaways at Bob's in our younger 'adult' days...all Complements of Don's great Hospitality . 

We  continued our 'kid' companionship into high school at SMHC, being Freshman grade 9 "Locker Buddies"......and YOU, amazingingly helpful for several months, lugging my  books to classes when I had that   big broken leg in grade 11

Never 'worked' together....(missed those Austen years)...but Great to see All those accolades from the great Lone Star state ....Must have been a Rewarding Work/Life, in the Heart & Music part of Texas 

Loved Your Big Smile, & Your  amazing ability to deliver 'Class A effective Zingers' in the most interesting ways while still Smiling.

Donald was a good man and a really nice guy. Everybody loved Donald. 
He  was a great listener, always had a ready smile, always genuinely interested in whatever was happening in your life. He was gentle and charming  and I was so pleased when he found Libby. Forty one years!
My heartfelt condolences to Libby and their two children, Victoria and Donald jr,  and sympathies to their extended family.  God bless.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Don as a kind and sensitive and funny man.  I know Libby and the family will miss him forever.

Don was a true professional and a class act. I always admired his kindness and sharp wit. He was warm and always gave people time and attention. So many colleagues (and I know friends and family) were better by knowing Don.

I am so sorry to hear about Donald’s passing. My heart goes out to each of you. 
Donald was my mentor as a teenager. His advice was invaluable as I struggled with my parent’s expectations of me. I will never forget the  “cottage talks’ we used to have & his guidance on how to survive at that time of my life.  
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

There are no words to express the sadness and loss that we all feel from losing Donald and the honor that we all share by knowing and loving him. 

Mano and I are so blessed that Libby, Don Jr., and Tory lovingly shared him with us for so many wonderful years. Our hearts will forever be filled with our memories of the times we spent together.

I am one of Donald’s younger brothers. We are a family of 8 children and Donald was unequivocally the best of us, myself included. 

Don and I did not get along well.  However, as I read all of the warm, kind, heartfelt comments made on this site, I note they all had one thing in common. They were very true, if not understated, and those that wrote them also have one thing in common. Your lives were immeasurably enriched by knowing my brother. 

I like to think he is reunited with our parents. It would bring enormous happiness to them.

Don was a kind and brilliant leader who always shared knowledge freely, and mentored with patience. I will long remember Don’s kindness, compassion, and encouragement.

My sincere condolences!  I've had the pleasure of working with Don over the past 8 years, he's been a mentor, and a friend.  He had a wealth of product and industry knowledge which he was always so gracious to share, without his help my start at Dell would have been much rougher!  He always made time for dinner and beers when I came to Austin and we continued to keep in touch after his retirement.  When he was leaving Dell he mentioned he hadn't really even thought about retirement until it was basically pushed on him.  I hope that's a sign that he was doing what he loved.  I wish we could have had more time Don, you will be missed!

I met you for the first time many years ago when I was at some marketing expo downtown Austin. I was manning a table with a bunch of OptiPlex products. You were talking to people at the Precision table next to mine. You showed sincere interest in getting to know me, my background etc.

You were one of the most professional, courteous, polite people I know.

Thank you for all the great memories. You let you light shine and you blessed us in countless ways.

My sincere condolences to Don's family. I'm based in Ireland and worked with Don some years ago at Dell. I regularly bugged him with questions & asks for help. He had such deep knowledge and was always so patient, ever willing to take the time to help a team mate. It was such a pleasure to have worked with him & learned from him. Rest in peace Don.

Donald was a great Brother- In -Law.  We had many enjoyable family dinners (And Red Wine) back in the 1980s.  Donald was very particular with the use of vocabulary and grammar which led to many late nights trying to best each other with obscure references.  Donald always won.

Deeply saddened by the news of Don's passing. What a good person, friend, and colleague through the years. You will be missed, but your memories will always be with us.

Don will be missed!  Such a sense of calm in times of work turmoil.  Don's presence would always see things through.   May his family know he was friendly, kind, and helpful in all things.  A wonderful co-worker and more so, a dear friend.  One of the first persons I met when I came to Dell.  I will always carry those memories.

I will miss Don, he was one of a kind.  His patience and generosity made big impression on me.   Always kind and polite, he was a teacher who dealt with inane technical questions with grace.  I'm grateful I got to know Don and learn from him.  RIP my friend

Don was one of the first people I met when I joined Dell in 2011 when I spent a week at a conference in Austin, I had travelled from the UK. I immediately warmed to him, he was such a nice guy. He became an important colleague but also a friend until he retired from Dell.

I was fortunate to have spent many times with Don talking about life, family and music … we had a lot of laughs. 

I am so sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences.

I’ll never forget the late nights meetings with Don. His patience was extraordinary, always listening attentively as we hashed out ideas, never rushing or dismissing my thoughts. His passion for his work shone through in every task, his dedication unwavering and inspiring. When I first arrived in Austin, feeling like a stranger in a new city, Don’s kindness made all the difference. He was the first to open his home, inviting me over for a warm, heartfelt dinner. That gesture, so genuine and generous, instantly made me feel welcomed and valued. Don’s kindness wasn’t just in grand acts—it was in the small, everyday moments: a thoughtful word, a shared laugh, or the way he made everyone around him feel seen. His compassionate spirit left a lasting mark on my heart, and I’ll carry those memories always.

Don and I worked together at Dell for many years. I always found him to be a kind person and a hard worker. I remember celebrating his gaining US citizenship and his many successful product launches at Dell. 

He was a good friend and I always appreciated his help and camaraderie. My condolences to you all for your loss.

There aren't many people for whom no one is a stranger or unwelcome. Don was such a person. I met Don through a mutual friend, and within a month of meeting him, he and his family offered to host me to their home for dinner...to celebrate my birthday. We talked about food and the economy, politics and culture, and we bonded even in the places we disagreed. Because Don was like that. He would give to anyone in need - even if they weren't 100% in lockstep; because, for Don, being kind was the first and most important element of any interaction.

And then we talked about music, and the rest is history. We stayed up until well past 2 a.m., talking music and concerts until I couldn't keep my eyes open. We swapped songs and stories, and we attended too many shows together to count. "Hey, Dan, Don's got a spare ticket to [insert dream band here], wanna go?" was the pattern and it bore the fruits of a great night out, so many times.

My heart goes out to all who mourn Don's passing, starting with his family and friends...but my condolences are offered to so many because, for Don, everyone was a friend. 

They don't make them like him anymore and he will be most sorely missed.

Don was a great mentor to me and an even better friend.  I'll always cherish the dinners we had together at your house and the nights Don and I would sit up to the early hours listening to and discussing music.  We went to innumerable concerts together; he was my concert buddy.  My heart aches at the thought of not getting to explore a new artist or revisit an old favorite with him at Antone's or Moody or ACL or any of our other old haunts.  

One thing I will always remember about Don is him shushing people at concerts.  This wasn't a rare occurrence and it always made be laugh while at the same time I was happy we could now hear the show.  I had to do this to my friend's girlfriend a couple of weeks ago and as I did I thought, "Don would be proud."  Don was insistent about politeness and manners and I loved that about him.

I could come up with a number of stories about Don, whether we were exploring other cities for work or running around Austin having a good time and at the center of all of them would be a great friendship.  

Rest in peace my friend and I hope to see you again one day.
