Donald Charles Mills

Donald Charles Mills, 89 passed away May 16, 2025. He was born December 31, 1935 in Payson, Oklahoma. Don was a gentle soul, loving husband, father, 'Uncle' to many, and never met a stranger. He served four years in the U.S. Navy where he taught himself to play the drums. Upon honorable discharge he traveled as a musician with the Collins Coins & the Cut-ups before joining Ernest Tubb as a Texas Troubadour and later Cal Smith as member of the Country Bumpkins. After retiring from the music business, he opened Big Foot Pest Control in Austin, Texas where he served as a sole proprietor for thirty-eight years.

Don will be fondly remembered by those who knew him. His presence touched the lives of his family through his love for them. His memory will remain a source of comfort & strength.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Vernie Mills and Audie M. McRae, sister; Joan Dean, and brothers Frankie Mills, Bobby Mills & Johnny Mills.

He is survived by his Carrie Mills, daughter Jennifer (Shawn) Goit, son Donald H. (Lacye) Mills, granddaughters, Jenna Alcantara & Cadence Mills, grandsons, Jacob Alcantara & Austin Mills, sister, Carol Mills & brother Randy Mills.

He is now at peace with his Lord Jesus Christ.

A graveside for Donald will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
