

Doris Elaine Brown, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her Scottsdale, Arizona home on Friday, July 15, 2022. Doris was born on July 25, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Agatha and Frank Finley. Her father passed away when she was two years old and Agatha later married Walter Burns. Walter adopted Doris and she loved him with all her heart. Doris graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School in Houston, Texas, where she was on the drill team, and studied home economics at Lamar State College. She enjoyed vacations, camps, and trips through the church, where it is said she developed her love for travel.
At the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Charles Brown, on September 8, 1961 at Woodbridge Baptist Church. She loved her family life and spent 60 years happily married. Doris was an active and caring woman who was involved in many volunteer and charity groups, such as Assistance League. She always surrounded herself with close friends and family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, golfing, and traveling the world with Charles.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Charles, who passed away on October 26, 2021. Doris is survived by her son James Brown and his wife Valerie; her daughter Karen Goodsell and her husband Ruben; and her grandchildren Jordan, Thomas, Abby, Isabella, and Ben.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, July 25th at 10 AM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 28th at 1 PM at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for donations to be made to Assistance League of the Bay Area.
