A strong and vibrant woman, she was orphaned by the age of nine and was raised in the Corsicana State Orphanage in Corsicana Texas until the age of 17. Shortly after, she met her husband of 37 years, Lyndon Brown, in Dallas Texas. They were married in 1947 and moved to Austin where they raised their two daughters, Sherry and Kathleen and continued the loving work of Lyndon's father, Bert P. Brown, at the Brown Schools.
Doris was unlike anyone you've ever met. She was a perfectly woven combination of humor, generosity, directness and love. She was always willing to give you what she could, whether that was a joke, a cold drink, loving advice or a good, long hug. She loved beyond measure and was loved beyond measure. She was our Mother, our Granny and our GiGi and there will never be another one just like her. How blessed we are to have had her for so many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lyndon Brown; her brother, L.D. Henderson and her sister, Hilda Allen.
She is survived by her sister, Louise Raymond, her brother J.C. Henderson, her daughters, Sherry Brown and Kathleen Brown, her grandchildren, Chris Joseph, Jason Joseph, Shawna Aubin and Erik Eichhorn, her great grandchildren, Trinity Aubin, Skylar Joseph, Kylie Aubin, Kiya Nunley, Jagger Joseph, Caleb Aubin and Carys Aubin and her loving dogs, Lea, Abbey and Target.
