She was the beloved daughter of Clyde (Alice) and Oda Lindsey. She was 79 years old. She graduated from Abilene High School and married Hugh William (Bill) Gaston in 1954. Doris and Bill were married 61 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. It was the most important thing in her life to truly listen to others. She was always interested and very confidential. She always made time for her family, had a meal prepared and an open house. She loved playing bridge with friends and family, having traditions like making Christmas cookies with all the kids (big and little), the Spurs, traveling and being a housewife. She and Bill moved from Texas to Louisiana to Oklahoma and back to Texas. She always adapted to wherever they lived and became active in her church. While in Oklahoma, she became very involved in Meals-On-Wheels and continued after they retired to New Braunfels, Texas. She continued this volunteer work until she could no longer drive.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Gaston of Austin, TX, daughter and son-in-law, Rick and Sandra Fudge of Austin, TX, son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Chris Gaston of Spring, TX, four wonderful and loved grandsons, and eight great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Doris' Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 7815 Hwy. 290 West with Rev. Jim Roberts officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made in Doris' memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco, Texas.
