Mrs. Stevens was born in Taylor, Texas to Albert and Mabel Rydell Senkel and was married to Edgar N. Stevens for 68 years. She worked at the University of Texas for 25 years. Active in her community and church, Mrs. Stevens volunteered at the Seton Hospital gift shop for more than 20 years and participated in Faith Lutheran fundraisers and charitable works since she and Mr. Stevens joined the church when it was a mission in the 1950s. She was an expert quilter and avid gardener.
Mrs. Stevens is preceded in death by her parents, sister Frances Hawley, and brother Gilbert Senkel. She is survived by her husband Edgar N. Stevens; sons Ed L. Stevens (Denise) and Joel N. Stevens (Joann); brother Clarence Senkel (Martha); grandchildren Abby Clardy (Dean), Michael Stevens, Jeff Stevens (Cristina) and James Stevens; and six great-grandchildren: Cody, Harper, Emma, Jacob, Wilder and Samuel.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church of Austin with Pastor Gary Goodson officiating and visitation at the church beginning at noon. Burial will follow at Capital Memorial Park.
