

Dorothy was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado November 7, 1913. She has been preceded in death by her parents Samuel Joseph Harrison and Elizabeth Draper Harrison, sister Ann Elizabeth Shackelford and brother Samuel Joseph Harrison, Jr. Their family moved to Austin when Dorothy was 6 years old. She graduated from Austin High School and attended The University of Texas. She married Tom Keithley Ward, deceased.
Dorothy worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 20 years and retired in 1973. She was a founding member of The Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, National Treasury Employees Union, Embroiders Guild of America, American Needlepoint Guild and Austin Municipal Art Guild. She was an accomplished and gifted stitcher and artist, winning numerous awards both city, state and nationally for her paintings and stitchery. Her story titled “Dr. Wooten’s Mansion”, was chosen to be published in the book Writing Austin’s Lives. She lived the last five years in Fredericksburg with her friends and second family at The Paige House.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Sue McKinney Olle of Austin, Maryneil Ward Dance and husband Tom of Fredericksburg, Tom K. Ward, Jr. and wife Sara, of Ft. Worth. Also she is survived by 9 Grandchildren. David C. Olle of Austin, Scott Olle and wife Margaret of Cordillera, Colorado, Lisa Goldin of Austin, Jeff Olle and wife Catherine of Panama City, Panama, Steven C. Levatino and wife Robin of Austin, Michael Levatino and wife Audrey of Gordonsville, Virginia, Paul J. Levatino of Dallas, Melissa Brock of Ft. Worth, Charley Ward and wife Kate of New York , N.Y. She had 17 Great- Grandchildren, Cameron Olle of Austin, Chase, Blaize, Ryder, Lusa, and Remington Olle, all from Cordillera, Colorado, Jacqueline and husband Johnathan Shultz of Dallas, Lauren and husband Sam Glover of Austin, Stephanie and husband Scott Grayson of Austin, Amanda Skonetski of Austin, Daniel Goldin of Austin, Harrison and Hanna Olle of Panama, Claire, Samuel and Grace Levatino of Austin, Aiden Brock of Ft. Worth. She also has 3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Mathew Skonetski, Samuel Glover, Bentley Goldin all of Austin. Dorothy leaves three neices Guion Leach of Williamsburg, Virginia, Carol Shackelford of Austin, and Sammilu Harrison of Austin.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David Olle, Scott Olle, Steven Levatino, Michael Levatino, Paul Levatino and Charley Ward.
Funeral services will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 5th of January 2012, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. A reception with the family will follow the services. A Committal Service will be held at Austin Memorial Park after the reception.
