Mr Todd was a father to me & my brothers.  We were blessed to live across the street from them for over 14yrs.  He was a perfect example that it takes a community to raise children.  My father will always brag of Mr Todd getting my 5 brothers boxing gloves to use after helping breaking up fights when we were all mad at each other.  I remember Chrissy & I being excited when MTV was being aired for the first time and the special of the Thriller music video was coming on.  We didn’t have cable yet at my house so Chrissy begged her dad to let it interrupt a football game and he sitting there watching it with us.  Yes, like any dad back then thinking it was a waste of $ and music videos wouldn’t last.  And Darren, I remember all of them fishing poles in the garage and remember wondering why...cause I never knew of him going fishing.  Back then he would work and work then to come home and work.  He truly was dedicated to his family.  But he did sure teach Chrissy and I how to get crawfish out of the creek.

And I remember how handsome he was!  The perfect image of an all-American football player.  His size and strength just radiating a proudness.  I admired him so much.  And he was so kind to me and my family.

I pray peace to Mrs Todd & Darren & family.  That their hearts can be lifted with knowing they shared an incredible man with the rest of the world & we felt his love.

Here we are when we lived on Dr. Moore's place near  Tokio.  We were all in school at Plains.

Lin & I were truly blessed to live close to Doug on several occasions . When he was in Midland running a paint and body shop, he helped me out several times . Once helping me repair and paint what our kids now call the "Pimp" van. He didn't mind staying late after work to help me get it painted.  That was one of his great qualities, always willing to help anyone, especially family.  My kids and grandkids loved him and love to be around him and his smiling face.  I always enjoyed going by Home Depot to visit whenever I was in Austin.  He was a lot like our Dad, never meeting a stranger.  We  will all miss him . Our thoughts and prayers will certainly be with Janice, Darren and his family.  He no longer is struggling to take a breath or talk. He is talking up a storm with Mom, Dad, and Christi. He was a great loving brother.

Its no secret that Dad loved to fish, just ask uncle J.E how many rod and reels we had to move out of the garage after the Oak Hill fire in 2011. (pick a number between 130 and 70)
One excursion on Lake Travis was a make up session for having drug him through 2 days of tropical storm in Matagorda Bay (another time perhaps, but the punchline is no fish, with lightning all around for a continuous 48 hrs while in a metal boat) .
Its 3am and Dad admits that he would like to continue fishing, but was starving and he had to get something to eat. "Look under your seat". I had stashed some M.R.E.s
for just such an emergency. He tore into it. Oh, meal ready to eat for those not familiar. They come with an entree, a side, snack and all sorts of treasures. the year was 2003. The only reason I mention it was  because the light provided just enough to catch an oddly labeled package of M & M's. Not odd, but something from my childhood, a design that I'm certain I saw on a store shelf when I was 5. "Hand me that", I asked. Illuminated was a copyright date of 1969. He had finished the uncle Sam ham slab and all of the rest of the goodies by the time I held that bag of M & M dust. I said we may have to head back anyhow due to the fact that I was only a little more than a year older than the food he just ate.
"No, I'll let you know if I start feeling bad". By sunrise, no problems and few more fish. No issues in the following week either, believe me, I was a calling.
Even this last Christmas, one of his gifts was an m.r.e. which made him laugh. He ate that too. Thanks for so many memories and being a great dad. Love Darren

Want all to know we will miss my younger brother. One regret though we didn't get to spend enough time together after we all left home.
One memory that I live over and over is when we were at plains, and Doug, Don and I
I were on the football team. Doug and Don were down linemen and I was line backer. I very seldom got blocked they were so good took most all the offensive linemen to block them.
We all had a lot of fun. Great memory, one of many.
Linda and I are praying for the family, and know we will miss him.

I was so saddened to hear of Douglas passing.  I considered him a close friend and will cherish the three plus years of working together in the phone room at the Bee Cave Home Depot.  Not a day went by that we didn't solve some world problem or talk about family.  He was truly a family man and would always talk about looking forward to Saturdays and McDonalds and then spending the day with Janice garage sale shopping.  He was always one for a good deal.  When I needed something I'd tell him, "Douglas, see if you can find me a ______, and he would."
He was one of the nicest people I've ever known, and will be truly missed by his family and friends.  Rest In Peace Douglas, I will miss you!!!

 Doug was the nicest person I have ever know.  I  always knew Doug would do the “right thing” with customers and fellow employees when we worked together at Home Depot. 
Except the time he sent me to jail for the a good cause- the United Way.
It took six hours for Doug to raise the money to bail me out . I’m still trying to get over it....... just kidding. 
God got it right when he made Doug, I will miss my friend.

Don & I send our love & prayers to you all...Janice, Darren, Meredith, Madelyn, & Brody.  Doug was very blessed to have you as his family all these years & was proud of all of you. We have too many memories to share now but hope to see you soon & share them in person. We would give anything to be with you to honor Doug, but know you understand our need to be with Don. We love you!

Janice and Darren, your family is in our prayers as we have shared some similar struggles over the past few years.  We love you and, while we know it is painful, we know Doug is worshiping at the feet of his Lord and reunited with so many who have gone before.  He is made whole for the first time in a long time.  We have this hope because our God does not lie.

In the early 2000's, as most of you know all too well, Dad embraced this thing called electronic mail. I recall setting up his new computer and showing him the basics such as connecting to dial up, general maintenance and so on. 
In order to "get the ball rolling", when setting up his email, I included every family member that I had in my contact list with the idea that, perhaps every now and then that if he wanted to say hello, there it is. 
WELL. Just a few short weeks later I receive a loving, yet desperate call from a beloved cousin whom I could tell had something on her mind, but was struggling with how to ( again, tenderly yet firmly) explain that her inbox was over filling (past allowed storage size) daily, with what we today call spam and that it was coming from my father.
 I realized that Dad was sharing ALL emails with everyone in his contacts. I immediately expressed that I would handle it and apologized. She quickly said that it wasn't my fault and not to worry, but I had to explain that I in fact had given "Lee Harvey" the bullets, the map and the gun. 
He took to it like a duck to water for sure.
 Although it was many days and nights of virus removal, and technical support, I will always look back and smile at his reckless abandon into the cyber world. Darren
