

Frankie received her M.D. degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 1956 and completed her internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas in 1957. She was employed at Big Spring, Texas State Hospital from 1958 to 1969. In 1975, she was appointed Superintendent of Vernon State Center State Hospital. Frankie was also named Deputy Commissioner for Mental Health Services at the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, State of Texas, serving from 1986 to 1989. After retirement from MHMR, Frankie served outpatient clinics in Central Texas for several years.
Frankie is preceded in death by her father, Carlton Williams in 1956 and by her mother, Edith Cockrell Williams in 1989. She is survived by a brother, John Williams of Fritch, Texas; nephews Steve and Mike Williams of Amarillo; niece Sharon Aragon of Los Alamos, New Mexico; four grand-nieces and one grand-nephew.
The family will receive friends at a Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, located at 6300 W. William Cannon Drive in Austin.
A Chapel Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks, officiated by Reverend Pat Thomas of St. John’s United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Spring Creek Cemetery in Avoca, Texas.
