

Lee Andrew (Drew) Lippolt, beloved husband, son, grandson and friend passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, February 12th, 2006, during Lone Star Track Days at Oak Hill Raceway located near Henderson, Texas. He is survived by his wife of two and a half years, Sachi Gahan, and brother Adam, mother Kerry, father Dean, and grandparents Mary Lippolt and Lee and Frances Harr. Drew was born on August 11th, 1972 in Harlingen, Texas. His family moved to Austin in 1986. He attended Austin High School where he was an honors student, the defensive captain for the football team, and lettered in wrestling. After attending the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, Drew quickly became a highly regarded Linux system administrator and technology manager. He was the CIO of Ascension Orthopedics from 1996 to 2000, a Senior Technical Architect at Sprint from 2002 to 2004, and most recently the CTO of Movero Technology from 2005 to 2006. An accomplished motorcycle racer for more than 15 years, he appeared in Cycle World magazine and won a 1998 Grand National Championship title. For the past four years, he had competed in the Bonneville Nationals on a streamliner designed by his mentor and dear friend Jerry Klawitter. Visiting hours for friends and family will be from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15th at Weed Corley Fish at 3125 North Lamar Boulevard in Austin. A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 16th at St. Davids Episcopal Church in Austin at 3:00 PM. A benefit sprint motorcycle race will be held in Drews honor to support a memorial fund; details will be announced on the CMRA message board at a later date.
