Duane started his adult life as a proud U.S. Marine stationed in Camp Pendleton and Kaneohe Bay, HI. He worked a successful career in Electronics such as circuit boards and wire wrap specializing in military contracts.
Duane was actively involved in watching sports (Packers fan for life), enjoying war movies, and of course old western movies he watched growing up.
Duane is preceded in death by his mother Regina Gillette, father Clifford Halvorson, and brother Kay Halvorson.
Duane is survived by his wife Roberta “Joy” Halverson; daughter Karen Giamundo and son Dale Halverson; grandchildren Marissa Campbell, Annika Bean, Austin Halverson, Nicholas Halverson, and Justin Halverson; as well as by great-grandchildren Seraphina and Callista Halverson.
Whether watching a Texas Longhorn baseball game, the Los Angeles Angels, or football, football, football, Bumpa was always ready with a glass of red wine while wearing his favorite cowboy boots. Bumpa was a friend to everyone he met and one of the gentlest giants.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life and Interment on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 11:00 am CT at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive in Austin, TX 78749.
