
Duane L. Stroh, born December 5, 1944, in Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away on February 13, 2004, in Austin, Texas. Duane graduated from Bismarck High School in 1962 at the age of 17. He served 4 years in the US Air Force, and retired after 16 years in the Air Force Reserve. He earned an Associates degree from Austin Community College. From 1968 until his retirement in 1994, he was employed by the City of Austin. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Stroh, and siblings, Leo and Saundra Stroh. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Jan; daughter, Tracy; mother, Leona Stroh; brother, Dennis Stroh; nieces, Paige Huffman and husband William and Jessica Tiller and husband James; great nephew, Gregory Tiller; nephew, Shannon Stroh; and many, aunts, uncles and cousins. Duane was devoted to his family, their pets, extended families, numerous friends and neighbors and the Texas Longhorns. But the apple of his eye was his baby girl, Tracy Lynn. She loved being Daddys Girl, too. This year, for the first time in her life, she didnt receive a Valentine box from her Daddy. If hed had any idea he wouldnt be here, hed have bought it early. Duane was a good and generous man, loved by many. Visitation from 6:00 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2004, at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home, with Rev. Randall Wyles officiating. Burial will follow at Onion Creek Memorial Park, Manchaca, TX. Pallbearers will be Joe McDonald, Duane Knopp, Jim Vollmer, John Denham, Jessie Lopez and Royce Burrows. Honorary Pallbearers include Jack Vollmer, Barney Jose, Leo Borek, Jerry Townsend, James Knopp, William Huffman, James Tiller, Mike Berger, Wesley Smith and Gerald Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
