Dustin Dale Compton, lovingly known as Dad, Bubba, DC, and Uncle Duckie, passed away on November 20, 2025, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 45. A devoted father, loyal friend, and a man whose smile and laughter lit up every room. Dustin leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and deep compassion.
Born on August 23, 1980, in Ridgecrest, California, to Melissa Ann Compton and Darwin Dale Compton, Dustin was raised in Lubbock, Texas, where he graduated from Coronado High School. During his time there, he ran track, played football, and even showcased his academic talent as a member of the Mathletes. He later attended Texas Tech University, studying Business Administration before moving to Austin to begin his career and start his family.
Dustin spent several successful years in new home sales, becoming a top producer for Gehan Homes, and receiving many other accolades from other builders throughout the community over his career. Yet his true calling revealed itself later, helping others navigate some of life’s hardest moments. With a deep desire to support and uplift those around him, he began working toward becoming a counselor, guiding men through difficult transitions such as divorce, the loss of loved ones, and major life crises. His empathy, insight, and lived experience made him a natural source of comfort and strength.
Above all, Dustin’s greatest joy in life was his children. His love for Braylon and Violet was immeasurable and evident in every story he shared. Whether cheering loudly from the sidelines of Braylon’s football games, laughing through phone calls and text messages, or enjoying concerts and movies together, his pride in his son was endless. He treasured every moment with his daughter, Violet, admiring the young woman she is becoming, their playful tickle fights, and beamed with pride as he cheered for #25 during her volleyball games. “She always has a smile,” he often said, a sentiment he held close to his heart.
Dustin had a deep love for music and was everyone’s go-to source for song recommendations. He never missed a chance to experience live music, and his sense of humor could break the ice in any conversation, whether it is with a stranger, his sister, a lifelong friend, and even co-workers. His mischievous grin, the one that made everyone feel like he was in on a secret, will be remembered forever.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Darwin Dale Compton and Melissa Ann Rowan; his children, Braylon Reese Compton and Violet Reese Compton; his Granny, Aurie Belle Compton; step-father, Wade Barr Rowan; his sister, McKenzie Nicole Compton; and his nieces, Evan Annabelle Compton, Halle Nicole Compton, and Lainey Paxtyn Compton. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Burwin Rex Compton, and his maternal grandparents, Eugene Ray Page and Patsy Ann Page.
Dustin touched countless lives. He was a steady shoulder to lean on, a natural leader, a protector when needed, a confidant, a loyal friend, a playful uncle, an incredible brother, and above all, the proudest father a child could ever hope for.
Services will be held on December 12th at 2:00 PM at Bannockburn Church, 7100 Brodie Lane, Austin, TX 78745, with a celebration of life to follow.
Though his time here was far too short, the legacy he leaves behind is immeasurable. Dustin’s story continues in the hearts of those who love him, in the memories they hold, and in the lessons he taught them about compassion, resilience, and loving without hesitation.
