

Earl Wiggins was born on February 10, 1936 in Winnsboro, Louisiana, the third of five children of Frank and Clara Wiggins. In 1940, the Wiggins family moved to Houston, finally settling in Galena Park in 1947.
In 1951, Earl accepted Christ as his savior and joined the First Baptist Church of Galena Park. After graduating Galena Park High School in 1953, Earl began his business career as a Machine Operator for Prudential Insurance Company in Houston. It was at Prudential were Earl met his wife of 56 years, Mary Brasher. Earl and Mary were married in 1955. After living in San Antonio for a short time, they returned to Houston. Earl joined Tennessee Gas Transmission in 1957 where he met his life-long best friend Ed Latvatalo.
Earl Graduated from University of Houston in 1964. He was a lifetime University of Houston Cougars fan. During that time he also worked full time to support his Wife, children, and the home they already purchased.
When his children were growing, he was President of the Candlelight League, the community youth baseball league. He coached numerous teams throughout the years, even when his son John was not a teammate.
He spent his entire career working as a computer specialist. Earl and Mary moved to Austin in 1982 due to a work transfer while he was working for Capital Computer Company. He was a pioneer in the computer industry and was highly regarded among his peers.
Earl was a devoted family man. Earl was preceded in death 41 days by his sister Mignonne. He is survived by his children Joni, Robin and John; son-in-law Darrel; daughter-in-law Donna; grandchildren Raven and Jessica; brothers Arlen (Sonny), Larry and Carl (Bryan); sisters-in-law MariGene, Mary-Katherine, Brenda, Jean and Dorothy; brothers-in-law John (Phil) and Orlen; his dog Buddy; and countless other friends and family members whom he loved and treasured.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Cook-Walden/Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Austin, Texas.
