Eddie Pearl Clark

Eddie was the oldest of nine children born to Eddie Futcher Sr and Lillie Mae Ethridge. Family affectionately called her “Pearl” and her siblings often referred to her as “Mama.”

She graduated from Dillard High School and Huston-Tillotson University. She was a member and president of the Alpha Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. While at Huston-Tillotson, she met Larry Clark. The two would later marry and, from this union, was born one child: Brandan Clark.

Eddie had a long and varied career in the city of Austin. She began as a Vocational Counselor/Youth Specialist and then went on to become a Planner, Contracting Agent and Purchasing Manager. In 1990, Eddie served as the Deputy Purchasing Officer for the City of Austin until her retirement in 2004. Eddie was heavily involved in the construction of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which is the only major U.S. airport built on time and under budget.

Eddie had a smile that was infectious. She was always willing to help, and was often revered as the smartest person in the room. Many called her the “go-to” person because she genuinely cared about people, her job, and the city of Austin.

Eddie was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Lillie Mae Futcher; and brother, Obie Futcher. She leaves to cherish in her memory, husband, Larry Clark; children, Brandan Clark, Richard Deonte Clark, Anthony Clark; granddaughter Bralynn Jones; sisters, Dora Newton Brown (Ted), Sandra Beard (Myron - deceased), Sheryl Beckford, Eula Stenett; brothers, Eddie Futcher Jr (Robin), Freddie Futcher (Betty), Emmett Futcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, located at 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home on North Lamar.

Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/ Memorial Hill Cemetery, located at 14501 N Interstate Hwy 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. Following, a reception will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 PM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home on North Lamar.
