Eddie Carroll Cooper Eddie Carroll Cooper, age 62, was born July 3, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas, to Edward Eugene and Inez Colleen Cooper. He passed away on June 7, 2008, after a brief battle with esophageal cancer. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1963, and attended Amarillo Junior College and Arizona State University. A third generation carpenter, Eddie began his career in 1967 when he joined his father, Edward "Tutt" Cooper in the building of new affordable homes in Sherman, Texas. When his dad died in 1974, Eddie moved to Austin, Texas, where he started his own remodeling business. That business continued until his death. Eddie was an active member of St. David's Episcopal Church where he served in many capacities, from Sunday School teacher to Trinity Center volunteer, from greeter to Altar Guild member, from usher to crucifier and thurifer. "Uncle Eddie," as he was known by the young children who were drawn to him, loved his Lord, his family, his church, and his work, and his presence and smile will be sorely missed. Eddie is survived by his wife Ann Jackson Cooper, and their two precious sons, Edward Champion and William Malcolm. Also surviving him are his four brothers and their wives: Malcolm and Robin Cooper of Austin, Darrell and Aida Cooper of Surprise, AZ, Duane and Meredith Cooper of Austin, and Scott and Jennifer Clearman of Houston; his uncle Kenneth Kearns of Pasadena, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at St. David's Episcopal Church, 304 E. 7th St., Austin, TX, on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial in Ann's family plot at Oakwood Cemetery Annex. We wish to thank Dr. Daniel D'Souza and Megan Buzbee of Houston, and Dr. Robert Kerr, Dr. Tim Dziuk, and the staff of Southwest Regional Cancer Center for their compassionate care of Eddie. We would also like to thank all family members and friends who have loved and supported us through the difficult months of his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
