Edgar August Schmidt passed away in Austin at the age of 89 on Sunday, February 20, 2011. He was born on February 23, 1921 in Old Glory, Texas, where he was raised on the family farm and attended school. In the early 40’s Edgar moved to Austin, married in 1943 and was self employed as a tile layer until his retirement. Edgar was the son of Henry and Alvina Schmidt and was preceded in death by sister Sylvia Tiemann and brother Milton Schmidt. He is survived by his wife Clara Schmidt, two nieces, two nephews, and extended family members. The family will receive friends from six to eight o’clock in the evening, Tuesday, the 22nd of February at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752. Graveside services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, the 23rd of February at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
