

Edmund Gassman of Austin, Texas passed away on December 31, 2011. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 13, 1957. He graduated from Salem State University with a degree in business administration. He was married to his wife of 19 years, Kathy.
Ed worked as an inside salesman for various companies in the Austin area. He had a passion for music and loved sharing his musical interests with his children. He was a hands-on dad and loved coaching his son's soccer team over the years.
Ed was a loving son, brother, and uncle and was always interested in what was happening with and for everyone else.
He also had a strong desire to bring monorail to the Austin area, and campaigned for several years to implement a safe form of public transportation. He was an active member of Congregation Beth Israel, and in past years served as the Chair of the Board of Jewish Education and also as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Ed is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Brett; daughter, Abbi; parents, Charlotte and Manny; sister, Wendy and brother, Jeff.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd at Congregation Beth Israel, 3901 Shoal Creek Blvd. Interment will follow at Beth Israel, Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Congregation Beth Israel or the American Cancer Society.
