

After a four year battle with cancer, Edmund Anthony Povalish passed away on October 23, 2015 peacefully at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 71. He was born on June 28, 1944 in Lemont, Illinois to Edward and Pearl Povalish. He was predeceased by his parents and the love of his life and wife of 27 years, Betty Povalish.
He is survived by long time companion and partner Janis Miller of Austin, TX; Sisters Eleanor and Margaret Povalish of Lemont, Il; Stepsons Randy Danford and wife Vickie, Mark Danford and wife Tammy; Stepdaughter Nathalie Garwood and husband Don of Fort Worth, TX; Step Grandchildren Hank Danford and wife Stacey, Ty Danford and wife Jessica, Elisa Haizlip and husband Jimmy, Markie Danford, Nathan Garwood and wife Laura of Ft. Worth; Step Great-grandchildren Brock Danford, Logan Danford, Lucas Danford, Samuel Haizlip; Extended family Clark Smith and wife Lori of Port Arthur, TX, Glenn Smith and wife Dana, Gerald Smith of Austin, TX and their children: Christopher and Kendall Smith, Glenn Jr. and Joshua Smith and Noah Smith; in addition to many other loving family and friends.
Ed started with APC a small company here in Austin in 1981. 3M purchased APC in 1982 and he started a long and rewarding career with 3M until his retirement. Ed’s strong point was his management of several different electronic service and repair groups over the years for 3M. He was also a key player in several acquisitions including the move of Dynatel from Sunnyvale, CA to Austin 1983/1984 timeframe. Ed had the responsibility to move the repair operation to the Austin Research Blvd. site. He was also a key part of the Photodyne acquisition from Camarillo in 1988. Ed will be missed greatly by all of those who worked with him.
Ed found peace and true joy at his second home, the Open Bar Ranch in Burnet, Texas. He was a rancher and breeder of limousine cattle for over 20 years.

Memorial service will be held at 1:03 p.m. on Friday, October 30 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 FM 620 N Austin, Texas. A graveside service will be held in Fort Worth, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
