Effie Joyce (Mattox) Gilder, 64, of Austin, TX passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Seton Medical Center Austin. She was born July 30, 1951 in Kountze, TX, and resided there until she moved to Austin in 1975. She retired from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015 after 28 years of service within the Business School. She was a dedicated and long-time member of Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church where she served numerous years with the Nurses Ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Angel Greene (Michael) of Kyle and Mikki Gilder of Houston; and a son O.J. Gilder (Reane) of Pflugerville. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Mikayla Gilder and Maia Roberts, and one grandson Triston Simpson. Effie also has three nieces Tammie, Deborah, & Daphne and one nephew Demarcus all of Kountze, TX that love her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ethel and Homer Mattox, sister Jimmie Boykin, and brother James Mattox.
