Ellen Margaret Miller Evgenides, age 85, of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on July 10, 2025. She was a member of Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church since 1985 where she and husband Costas were active for many decades. Ellen loved being with her family and was always quick to laugh at a good joke or story. She was loved dearly and will be missed greatly.
Ellen was born January 10, 1940 in Corpus Christi to Frederick Alvin Miller and Christine Blythe Miller. She was the first of eight children growing up at the Windy Hill homestead in Robstown. Ellen spent many quiet, fun-filled, country days with her siblings. Her sons are lucky to share those memories, having visited Windy Hill many summers as children. Ellen attended the University of Texas, where she met Costas - and her life was never the same.
They were married on November 25, 1960 and settled in Austin. Ellen became Orthodox, studied and became fluent in Greek, while also working outside the home and raising two sons. She was preceded in death by Costas just 11 weeks ago. They were deep twin stars whose lights illuminated each other.
Ellen is survived by her sons Timothy (Tim) Evgenides and wife Keary Kinch, children Amani Alexander and Helen Evgenides; Tobias (Toby) Evgenides and wife Sharon Wilson Evgenides, child Alistar Evgenides all of Austin, Texas; sister Freda Miller of Portland, Oregon and brother Travis Miller of College Station, Texas as well as many friends and family around the world.
A celebration of her life will be held at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, July 16 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Transfiguration Church or Hospice of Austin in Ellen’s memory.

O God of spirits and of all flesh, You trampled upon death and abolished the power of the devil, giving life to Your world. Give rest to the soul of Your departed servant Eleni in a place of light, in a place of green pasture, in a place of refreshment, from where pain, sorrow, and sighing have fled away. As a good and loving God, forgive every sin she has committed in word, deed or thought, for there is no one who lives and does not sin. You alone are without sin. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your word is truth.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”
