ElRose Bellard Weeden, lovingly known as “Rose,” passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, grace, and deep love. Born on February 8, 1936, in Sunset, Louisiana, at the tail end of the Great Depression, Rose grew up in a rural community where she learned the enduring values of resilience, hard work, and perseverance.
A trailblazer in spirit, Rose was an entrepreneur long before it was common for women to pursue independent business ventures. She proudly ran her own dog kennel, specializing in purebred German Shepherds, and later built a thriving cake decorating business. Her creative talents and enterprising spirit were matched only by her passion for life and people.
In May of 1960, Rose married the love of her life, Harold Weeden. Together, they formed a powerful partnership—both personally and professionally—running a successful real estate investment and property management business across Southern California and Texas. Their bond was unshakable, and their achievements a testament to their shared vision and mutual support.
Rose was the heart of every gathering. Known for her elegance, warmth, and vivacious personality, she had a gift for making people feel special and seen. Whether hosting family celebrations, dinner parties with friends, or simply sharing stories over coffee, she created spaces of genuine connection, laughter, and joy. Her presence was magnetic, her style timeless, and her kindness unforgettable.
A proud Cajun woman, Rose cherished her heritage and often spoke Cajun French to her loved ones, weaving cultural pride into daily life. She was a patron of the arts and a lover of live music, always finding beauty in creative expression and encouraging others to do the same.
Rose is survived by her devoted children: daughter Sherry J. Huffman, and sons Michael Weeden and Mark Weeden. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her unwavering love and example.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold, who passed in 2015. Their enduring love remains a cherished memory for all who knew them.
Though Rose faced her share of hardships, she lived life with courage, compassion, and an open heart. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her generosity, her wisdom, and the joy she brought into every room.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
