After he finished seminary in Ohio, they lived in Damon, Texas, serving First English Lutheran Church and simultaneously Hope Lutheran Church in Beasley, TX, for four years before he was called to St. John Lutheran Church in Austin in 1961. Elsie served along with Walter during his 18 years as pastor. They were married 26 years before his passing in January of 1981.
Elsie met her second husband, Marvin Domel, at Christ Lutheran Church in Austin where she worked as the church secretary for many years. He owned an air conditioning business named Domel Service, Inc. and worked on the church equipment. She married Marvin on September 3, 1994 at St. John Lutheran in Austin, Texas. They lived together on his family owned land near Hutto. They attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin faithfully until she moved into memory care at Volante of Round Rock at the age of 94. They just celebrated 31 years of marriage three days before her passing.
Elsie loved the Lord, playing the piano and organ, singing, dancing, reading, playing card games and dominoes. She was very social, knew someone everywhere she went and was a blessing to everyone she met. She loved her family and friends deeply and without judgment. Throughout her 95 years, she experienced many worldly events and personal losses, but she remained steadfast in her faith and knew God was always walking beside her. Now may she rest in the peace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who suffered and died so she could join Him in heaven.
She will be buried at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park at Oak Hill next to her first husband Rev. Walter W. Koenig, Jr.
