

Eugene Orlando Carter, age 62, died on Sunday, December 6, 2015 in Lakeway, Texas. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and dear friend to many who appreciated his sense of humor, his generosity, and his love for family and friends.
Eugene was born on October 20, 1953 in New Orleans, LA. Raised in South Louisiana, he attended high school at Landry Memorial where he was a member of the Speech and Debate Team and a member of the Class of 1971 (first graduating class of St Louis Catholic High School). Upon graduation, Eugene attended LSU in Baton Rouge and later transferred to the University of Tulsa where he received a degree in Petroleum Geology. Eugene was employed by Gulf Oil Company, and then Chevron in New Orleans and Lafayette, LA ; Jordan Oil Co in Lake Charles; and Louisiana Delta Oil Company in Lakeway, TX. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Lafayette Geological Research Center. He enjoyed boating, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family. Eugene's early upbringing in Creole, New Orleans, and Lake Charles created an appreciation, curiosity, and love for South Louisiana and his entire career was devoted to oil exploration and production along the Gulf Coast.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Catherine "Caty" Gosnell Carter of Lakeway TX; two daughters, Sarah Kuhlman Carter (age 26) and Anna Catherine Carter (age 22); his mother, Dolores "Ducie" Thompson Carter of Lake Charles; his twin brother, Stephen Lyall Carter (wife, Eve Green Carter) of Atlanta, GA; his brother Frederick Thomas Carter (wife, Kristine Stoma Carter) of Lake Charles; his sister Kathryn Carter McBride of St Louis, MO; his sister Jennifer Carter Sutton (husband, Grady) of Lake Charles; and his sister Marsha Carter Dibartolo of Lake Charles. Eugene is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Stephen Eugene Carter; his paternal grandparents, Lorena Miller Carter and Stephen Lyall Carter, and his maternal grandparents, Alvine Boudreaux Thompson and Frederick Thompson.
Eugene was a donor to the Tissue Center of Central Texas, and the Lone Star Lions Eye Bank, knowing it would be a life enhancing, and life saving gift. A memorial service will be held in Lake Charles at a later date.
